hi guys mini noob need help

Hi I have a 05 mini one d and have been trying to sort out the door locks not working properly I managed to sort n/s door by just clipping the cable from the internal door handle back into place . on the drivers side the key was not turning and locking/unlocking the door so I got the panel off and removed the mechanism. I have now figured out the barrel is knackerd the doors lock and unlock but now the car won't turn over when I turn ignition on the fuel system pressureizes and I hear relays click but when I turn the key to crank I get nothing no clicking from the starter could this be ews the car has not been locked for ages and the key was not coded to the car until I found out how to do it today could it be starter or ews misalgned or something else thanks for your help in advance

try taking the battery leads of then touching them togeather after a few mins and try starting it again all so make shore you don't have a loss lead or a flat battery

Thanks I will try touching battery leads together pretty sure the battery is OK as I have also tried jumping it from another running car also all lights are bright and do not dim. I will also check terminals tight I'm curious to know what touching the battery leads together might do as I've not heard of this before
Thanks for your reply
