Question Newbie Mini owner

Hi - I am a newbie with a new-to-me 2010 Mini, pepper white with black stripes and black roof. It has 22000 original miles off BMW lease (no pics yet!)
The car does not have bluetooth capability and I am considering a stereo upgrade so I can use hands free while driving. My concern is that aftermarket radio's (LED displays) will not allow me to use the onboard computer if I swap out the radio. Anyone have any thoughts on this? The idea was to use a Metra 99-9903 insert but am reconsidering due to the above question.
