United-Kingdom Steering down AGAIN help someone

had a rebuilt steering pump fitted and within 4 month its failed again but this time red battery light is on, i have posted this only last week and not much response, i have had three diagnostics and they can not communicate with the ps pump at all...all the fuses are fine even the FL4..i have had the alternator serviced thinking it was that and it was not, the battery is charging so what could it be we have now taken the pump off again and sending the unit back im at my wits end.

Has anyone else had this problem

Hi ya

Sorry to here that, sometimes these pumps are not repaired properly
I take it you have electrically disconnected the pump and rechecked everything ? And if so is your alternator light still on

These pumps can cause some funny faults

There are other fuses apart from FL4 that control the pump, you have one for the alternator/ power steering pump in the footwell fuse box F39, F41.

Hope this helps

Hi yes checked all the fuses there fine its so baffling because the first time it failed it was failing intermittently and then just went pop and there was no warning light but this time there is the battery light on and the steering just died...its not the steering rack as iv heard the steering would go easy on at least one side then go stiff on the other side so im stuck thanks for your reply

Hi ya

As said before disconnect the pump electrically so it's out the electrical system. Make the connectors safe. Then run the car and make shore everything is ok. Bar the pump this will tell you if there are any other problems with the car.
Sometimes these pumps just stop sometime they have an internal short, and can cause all kinds of funny faults.

Hope this helps
