Hi all! Just acquired my very first Mini Cooper S convertible...at the age of 58!! Now or never I suppose. I love it! The only problem is the parking sensors are not working. When I put the car into reverse, I get a long beep which stops. My husband has done all the check to listen whether the sensors were ticking which they are all. We checked the fuse and that is fine. What next? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi bev, by the sounds of your complaint you may have a faulty sensor (or wiring) or even the Pdc control unit is faulty. Do you still feel the sensors working after the long beep and it stops working ?
If not I would say you have a bad sensor, what the system will so you have a bad sensor, is turn all the sensors off so you don't use them only having 3/4 of the rear of your car covered by the sensors, the next step I would do is attach a good scan tool and check for any faults on the Pdc line.
Because I found it humorous. I bought a '13 base hardtop with automatic. I had been driving manuals for many years but finally got to a point in life where I decided to lighten up, relax and enjoy the ride. I traded in a FR-S 6 manual for my MINI and it's perhaps the most enjoyable car I've ever driven.
