New member in NorCal. Have a P0304 error code

Hello everybody, I bought my mini around Jan 2013. It is a 2010 and it has 69k miles on it.

A couple weeks ago it overheated on my commute to work. I thought I blew the motor. But by the time the tow truck came it started fine and I drove it up his ramp. I thought for sure I blew the head gasket, but my mechanic does not think so. He said it is fine after doing pressure tests on it. There was a broken thermostat housing that was the culprit. I had a new one put on. Now after about 2 weeks of getting it back on the road, when I start it cold in the morning it misfires for a second or two and then runs fine for the rest of the day. But the engine light come on and I get error code P0304. "Cylinder 4 Misfire detected"
So I changed my plugs and cleared the engine light. Then I drove it for 3 days and in the morning the misfire would happen again and the engine light come on. The car runs fine afterwards but I want to eliminate this issue. Can anybody help out here?
