Hello everyone! I'm new to both MINIs and forums, so please be gentle
I recently bought my beautiful grey 2013 MINI Cooper S and, honestly, I'm finding it very difficult to stay out of the car. I've been coming up with all kinds of excuses just to get in my MINI and zip off to somewhere... anywhere!
Let me give the readers a little background about myself and the vehicles that led me to this match-made-in-heaven. I've owned 3 Mazda MX-5's, the NA, NB, and NC (those are 3 of the Miata body styles for the confused), and I've absolutely and completely enjoyed driving them all! The power to weight ratio was great, the balance was almost perfectly 50/50, and they hugged the road beautifully! After my last roadster, I traded in for a Silverado because I felt like I needed a pickup truck for some reason... I didn't, but I held on to the truck for a little over 5 years.
Then... my opportunity arrived.
Last week, I decided that the fuel consumption of a big truck was way more than I wanted to continue to pay. I thought to myself, "I want another small car for the gas mileage benefits and so I'm no longer the first person people would call asking to help them move." I started looking at my old go-to, the Mazda... but I felt like I wanted to be different this time around. I looked at all the vehicles that were closest to what I was after, and then... MINI!!! I ran across a used 2013 MINI Cooper S and I fell in love at first sight. I immediately called up the dealership to make sure they still had it on the lot, and they DID! That same day, I drove my gas guzzling pickup to the MINI dealership at which I found it (3+ hours) and took a test drive. The first set of curves I saw, I took at full-force! She handled like a dream! She took the corners, chewed them up, and spit them out behind us like nothing had ever happened! It was magnificent!! After a lengthy test drive (30 or so minutes of fun) I returned to the lot and basically said "WHERE DO I SIGN!?!?".
Today marks our first entire week together and I will not let her go easily when and if that time ever comes.
I have not been able to stop thinking about driving her when I'm not, and I can only think of fun places to take her when I am behind the wheel! I've been on the internet looking up aftermarket parts as well as fun little accessories, accouterments, and trinkets that will assuredly make me look obsessed with MINI... and I'm not sure that's a bad thing! I want to start personalizing her as soon as humanly possible! I already have a wishlist (or 2... maybe 3...) of upgrades I want to make. Things like intake, recirc/blowoff valve, add some gauges (boost, water temp, oil press, etc.)... all kinds of fun stuff!!
To close, I'd like to say hello and thank you all for contributing to this forum (I've already learned so much!) and I look forward to getting to know you!
