Two days ago, I test drove an R56 Cooper S, and thought it was absolutely brilliant. I've been an Audi owner for a few years now, but the constant maintenance combined with the quite awful fuel economy of my S4 is killing me, so tomorrow, my mechanic and I will be checking out the R56 I test drove to ensure that it's mechanically sound.
We're both Volkswagen-Audi guys, so we have very little experience with the BMW/MINI platforms. Is there anything I should be looking for, in particular (common problems, etc.)? It's a 2008 with 71,xxx miles.
The only thing I noticed while test driving is that the brake light (next to the tach) was on during the entire drive, despite the handbrake being completely depressed. Is there any other reason besides a loose cable or sensor that could/would be causing the false indicator light?
Thanks in advance,
