$1,000 to clean injectors?

Hi...I'm new here. A "seasoned" male - "A Man in His Glory...A Boy in His Dreams".
About a year ago I bought a 2010 S Coupe, Bronze body, Black roof - 6-speed of course.

For those who were around and can remember, my first car was an Opel Kadett "Mini Brute" purchased after I returned from Viet Nam.

I guess I like my cars like I like my women...small, tight & frisky.

I love the car...But recently a "dirty injector" problem cropped up...sputtering, coughing, hesitating and "increased emissions" light ONLY on start-up. After it fires-up, and I get going, everything seems fine.
It has 26,000 miles and I use ONLY Sunoco Ultra and drive almost exclusively in "S" mode.

My dealer quoted over $900.00 for an "injector cleaning" ...(I may be old - but I'm not dumb).

I just dropped a bottle of "Techron" in the tank.

What (if anything) should I expect? And are thre any other resaonable alternatives?

The N14 engine is notorious for carbon build-up on the valves. Still walnut blasting to de-coke the engine shouldn't cost $900.

Find yourself an independent MINI mechanic.
