Help!!!! My mini one, 2004, 83k mile, power steering has failed !! After replacing the clutch, I took the car on a test drive and found the power steering pump wasn't working, also the battery light on the dash was lit and the interior clock wasn't working ( all fine before I replaced the clutch ) I've checked all fuses, including the big 100amp ones under the engine bay fuse box, all fine, the fuses in the passenger footwell are all ok too. In an attempt to cure the fault, I've replaced the alternator twice, and had the power steering pump sent away and reconditioned and tested twice. All with no joy. Please, please, any ideas, yours hopefully, 3speed.

Quite common for PS pump connector to be corroded on earlier Mini's. I think Main Dealers of course just replace the harness, also known for some DIYers to use a scrap car as donor.......see below:

Quote:
"If the PS cable harness or connector is burnt or damaged it can be easily removed from a scrap MINI as it is only about 2 feet long with just 2 wires in it, only attached with cable ties (easily cut to get the loom out) and the other end, 1 wire is plugged into the bottom of the engine bay fuse box (the box is secured by 2 x 8mm headed bolts, remove them and the box lifts enough to unplug the connector) the other wire is bolted to a earth point on the chassis rail under the fuse box... (they are really thick cables, and carry alot of current so not worth trying to splice into your existing loom.) even a novice would be able to remove and refit this cable in around 20 minutes tops."

A Mini Breakers like those below should have the cable:-
