Hello to you all. Ive just had my air con looked at on Focus so asked him to look at my daughters Mini as she says its struggling to get cold and fan keeps coming in/out/in/out. Air con guy tested it and gas level is fine but...the 1st stage fan is failing to come in. He can feel relay coming in so says its either Stage 1 fan or Resistor. Stage 2 fan comes in at right pressure but Stage 1 is not coming in at lower pressure. Says its bumper off job. Ive been quoted by my mini specialist circa £260 for fan change, Does this sound good diagnostic work.
I have to agree the fan (stage 2) is forever coming on/off and he showed me the pressure the Stage 1 fan should have come in at but it didn't.
Just wondered what your guys n gals thoughts on this were and if anyone was or has suffered same problem

great

Well, over 150 views and nobody gave any input? Well I searched elsewhere, Googled it and scoured all over to glean some assistance and decided the best course of action to cure this was fit a new fan /resistor unit @ £240. Cured the problem
Thanks everyone for the nil input, always reassuring you can count on this forum for a bit of friendly advice and guidance...not!

Ha ha yep I have noticed that not many help sometimes, my stage one fan went a few weeks ago, you can get an after market replacement for the resister so there's no need to take the front end off or buy a new fan. Have a look on eBay, they're around £15. ::wink::

Thank you for the advice but with hearing nothing we took it to a local independent BMW Mini specialist who changed the whole thing. It was expensive but at least we have peace of mind and the air-con is now really cold. I did read elsewhere when I received no reply, about the possibility of changing the resistor but the wife overruled it...she paid so what the hell. Again thank you and regards.
