England hi from stafford

Hi
My names Neil. Just sold my classic mini 16v project and bought a cooper s. Middle life crisis my daughter calls it . Well its in pieces already after 2 days on the road . Have posted in the cooper s thread with details.
Have owned many minis over the years estates and my first car was a mini. Can really say hand on heart though that the R53 cooper S deffo has that mini magic and cant wait to fix it and get back on the road.

G'day mate, born in S.O.T. and have a cousin in Stafford, now live in Australia. Good to see and look forward to your posts in repairs. If your not aware, Modmini on YouTube has excellent Gen 1 DIY videos and Pelican Parts have a lot of useful DIY on their website.

Hi Neil and welcome along buddy! You bought the best of the bunch in terms of Mini. Swap that matrix out and hopefully heat will be restored as i think it may be blocked up. K seal is an absolute nightmare in any engine so it might even be worth running a couple of engine flushes through it too as well as back and forward flush the engine just to be sure all the left over crap has been washed out.

Just a thought Neil, there is a bolt at the back of the block under the exhaust manifold that is a drain for the water jacket, might be worth checking there as well.

Thanks for the greets and info yeah modmini was the videos I watched before I stripped it down. I've been after a gen 1 r53 s for a while but the money I had available I had to shop around and many where rough body's missing parts and not looked after at last I found one not the original colour I was after but hey u say it and I knew it was the one. Once the mechanics are done it should hopefully be a good car.
