Offline | The reason I am asking is because in another thread we are discussing whether Run Flat tyres can in fact be repaired. One Mini2 member posted this link which states that it depends on the tyre manufacturer. Apparently if your Run Flats are made by Firestone then regardless of the type of puncture, the tyre has to be replaced. However, if you have Goodyears then there is a good chance they can be fixed. So I am trying to get a picture of what make of tyres Mini are putting on the 17" Wheels. Hopefully Goodyears all round. ![]() Cheers. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | I got the Pirelli Eufori@'s When I went looking at the S at my dealers it had Dunlops on the S spokes, so I commented on weather the S got Dunlops instead of Pireelis for any reason, or it was just the tyre they happen to buy in? Anyway the dealer went on to say that the Pirelli guys had said that if you get a puncture in the Run flats, chances are you'll need a new tyre due to the ribbing or wireing braking while it was flat! I wasn't best pleased, forgot about till saw this thread. Whats the point in a run flat tyre if you have to shell out on a new tyre everytime you get a flat! When these tyre's need replacing going to get the Dunlops fitted. Look far better anyway (cool tred pattern that is) ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Discussed that same issue with My dealer. She told me that if they have a 17" inch mini on the lot with Dunlop Run flats she would swap them out for me if mine arrive with the Pirelli euphorias. Tread life on the pirellis is only 180 where the dunlops have a tread life of 280. I agree they look better also. Considering the replacement cost of these tires I want something that will give some mileage and can be repaired. Gary from Memphis – Chili Red S White top SP/PP delivered 7/30/2002 |

Offline | Thats a big difference! What does it mean exactly! If the Dunlops are a harder compund (hence last longer) does that mean they aren't as grippy. Have to say finding it very difficult to find the limit of grip on my tyre's except in the wet. It handles SOOOO good! ![]() |

Online | The Tire Rack did a test on the Dunlop SP Sport 9000 DSSTs. After reading the test, I'm wondering if these are considered "all-season" or "performance (summer)" tires. ![]() Last edited by MINIAC : Jun 28th, 2002 at 04:41 PM. |

Offline | My standard UK S 16" x-lites are Dunlop. OK, LMB I know you're getting 17"s but... I think they say treadlife 280, but I don't know what that means. What I can say is that they are quite noisy, that is to say, on noisy surfaces they sure are noisy, but they grip like glue come rain or shine. Including the Duke's pass (the steep and winding public road which links Aberfoyle to the Trossachs and Brig O'Turk) in the wet, which I did yet again yesterday after work - I bad habit, I know, but I just can't stop myself. ![]() photo |

Offline | My car has 17" Pirelli tires. I keep a canister of puncture repair stuff in the car to minimize the wear if I do get a puncture. As far as I can tell, the only place you can buy replacement runflat tires is from the dealer (120 miles away). I hate to think ask what they charfe for them. I am not sure what I will do when they need replacing but I expect a major failure will force me to move to non-runflats as I will not be able to get new runflats quick enough. 2007 DS/W MCS LSD, sport suspension, Enkei RPM2 wheels 2002 EB/W MCS Sport package, Rogue intake, Borla exhaust, 15% pulley & Madness sway bar |

Offline | 17" Pirelli The talk I hear about the longevity of the performance run-flat has me worried a bit. I've been looking and run-flats are hard to find and expensive. I was quoted over $200 ea. I like the idea of regular replacements and a puncture repair kit. '02 MCS, Electric Blue/White Top, 17" S-Lites. |

Offline | Having to re post on here as haven't been informed anyone had been replying as its been moved ![]() AS for the Dunlops having a higher tread life rating or whatever, could mean they not as grippy as the Pirelli (pirelli are known for bloody ace tyre's!) so maybe Pirelli's are better. Still don;t know how people stand on the Run flats Dunlops being repaired. CMT's 16" Run flats were fine when he had a puncture!! ![]() |
