The main reason to stay within +/-3% is to have accurate speedometer and mileage readings. The slighty smaller 195/55/15 will be just fine. It will lower your car very slightly, and give you slightly better gearing advantage.

The difference is so small I doubt you'll feel it, what you'll feel is the difference in grip with the new tires (probably quite a bit more!) and stiffer sidewall, thus more positive handling feel.

I've searched a lot on this topic and it does not seem like the dealer will be able to help you with speedometer calibration, you can call and check however. I wouldn't worry about it too much, 195/55/15 is close enough.

Hello,

yes I did fit new tyres, I think I wrote about it in another post about tyres so I forgot about this one, sorry

I went for the Dunlop SP Sport 02, 195/60/15 which proved to be breat tyres (at least compared to the OEM ones). They fitted just fine and they don't seem like they're too wide for this rim. They just look ok and in place. The tyres now look wider (there is noticeable difference), although I guess they would look even better on a wider rim.

As for the height, 195/60 is slightly higher but I guess that's ok, the car goes great. I did notice some difference while driving, compared to the old tyres but I think it's because of the new tyres being *new* and wider. For example, I noticed that the steering response got kind of quicker.

So, I can't tell about the dimension of 195/55 (as stated in the thread's title), but I can tell you that the width of the tyre is ok and that the 195/60 run fine!
