Long term opinion on Falkens

After doing a search on who had Falken 512 tyres, I was wondering if any of the owners might be able to comment how the tyres are doing now they have had them for some time. How are they wearing, and if they are better then the runflats in wet and dry conditions.

I am thinking of getting these and would like some advice. Current best price I have seen is £52.17 for 205/45/17.

Thanks alot!

Not a bad price but I am quite pleased with the price I got them, and had them fitted at a BMW dealership, for an even better price! To soon to make any definate opinions, but they are much smoother.

They wear really well.

The ride is outstanding compared to rf.

They are great at ploughing through deep standing water.

The grip in the dry is good . They slide nicely, not too snatchy- easy to control.

The grip in the wet is bad on roundabouts or any tight turn, otherwise it feels stable.

I have 220ish hp, and drive enthusiastically I wouldnt have these again- wished i gone for eagle F1's.

Under normal driving they are fantastic + great value

Just done the Goodwood trackday on them- it was dry and the tyres did really well.

Pressure was increased to 40psi and it really suited them.

I've got FK451's and loved em. Done 18k on my first set of fronts and 8k so far on my second set. Rears are still my first set having now done 26k

I want P Zero's or Eagle F1's next time though, but theyre twice the price for 215/35 R18's.

What pressure do you run them at-

What effect will 40psi have in the wet, will it be really bad?

40 PSI!!!!!

I only run 32 rear and 34 front. 34 at front simply because the fronts drop quickly.

I have a Cooper. I am on my second set of the 512's. Get about 20K miles per set, rotate front to back every 5K miles. I went with the 195/55-15, which I like a lot more than the OEM Conti 175/65-15.

Trust me the turn in is fantastic- noticably better. Just worried what effect it will have in the wet.

Its a bit less than 40- more like 38.

Give it a try.

I personaly found 32 to be best TBH. Turn is already awesome as I have hardly any side wall with a reinforced 215/35 R18.

The rears on mine would probably of lasted longer if I hadn't of got Eibachs. The rears look fine at first, but the inside edge is preety low due to the camber. As said before done 18k on the first set of fronts (on a cooper) and 9k now on my second set with the S. Assuming I get another 9k out of the fronts (which I doubt) then I'm changing all 4...

...want Pirelli P Zero's or Eagle F1's next. P Zero's are looking like my favorite.

512s are H rated right? does that mean a not so hard sidewall? i've read some reviews about them, some owners noticed more than normal body roll coz of the softer sidewall...
