Do you know what the Friction Materials Standards Institute (FMSI) number for the pad backing plate is? If not AP should be able to tell you. My brake pads for my Stoptech kit are D372, which after running a search I found out to be the same brake pads used on Porsche 928s and 959s. Then all I had to do was find places which sold pads for these models. So if you follow the same process you should be able to find the model(s) that use the same pads in your AP kit. I found which model mine was from on http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/hawk_applications.asp, but its a big list to look through. Take a look at http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ for reasonably priced pads. Hope this helps. Last edited by woodsy_bear; Oct 30th, 2005 at 12:32 PM.

Well, i found out a bit the Ferodo part # FRP 3085 Unfortunately federal mogul site is unfamiliar with this number so i was unable to figure out if there are any other vehicles using the same pads, but still you have an option According to ferodo racing it is available in 2 types of pad material: Ds2500 Ds3000 Ds3000 is not recommended for street use, though it is 30% more effective than Ds2500 and has additional heat protective liner . So i think it will help you on track but due to high coefficient of friction your rotors life will be sacrificed p.s. frankly speaking this AP kit is too small for hard track events and its cast one piece rotors cools down far too slow but i like it anyway

Pad Info I have the John Cooper Motorsport brake kit which is made by AP. It looks like it's basically the same thing as the AP kit you folks are talking about, except for color & JCM logos (which I must say look pretty cool) and have their slotted rotors. Since nobody really posted much detailed info here, I thought I would post what I have learned with the help of AP & some pad vendors: JCW AP Caliper Type: CP7620 - 5S0 : JCM AP Pad Family Info: 0-CP7600 and CP7600D46 For the Mini, they are using a customized version of the CP7600 family of calipers (as indicated by the pad application DWG someone posted). Unfortunately, I have found out from my local pad suppliers this caliper is not very common! I have found several pads available however: 1) Porterfield (USA): They don't stock anything, but know this pad under the name "Custom AP/Lotus" & can make them custom to your order in about 48 hours for around $120 USD (some materials more). Choice of materials includes R4S, R4, Hawk, and Performance Friction. They will likely want you to send them a faxed tracing of your backing plate just to be certain which pad you're talking about. 2) Mintex: Available from: sales@questmead.co.uk AP Backing Plate Ref # CP7600D46 Mintex Backing Plate/Shape # MDB2027 Compounds available: F4R, M1144, M1155, M1166 (just tack this on the end of the backing plate number) 3) Ferodo: Available from: Jack.Horowitz@essexparts.com AP Backing Plate # CP7600D46 Ferodo Backing Plate/Shape # FRP3085 Compounds available: DS2500, DS3000, DS3000E 4) Pagid: Pagid Backing Plate/Shape # ERS625 Not sure which materials may be available. 5) EBC: EBC Part # DP41377 Compounds: #4 in above p/n refers to the "yellow stuff" material. Not sure which other compounds are available. AP said they supply the DS2500 in most of their kits as it's a good all around pad, but not intended for race use. My JCW kit came with Mintex M1166 for racing, so I'm probably going to try a set of M1144 for street. I haven't tried the other compounds yet so I can't say how they work, but will update this when I have some more testing under my belt.

or you could call lohen who stock the green stuff and red stuff and minitex m1144's for these all under one roof and run them on their S minitorque.com, the site for mini performance, drag racing track days & time attack its all change for the S, to be revealed soon

Well I wound up ordering a set of Ferodo DS2500's today from Essex Parts on the east coast of the USA. Since I'm in USA, there are virtually NO other pads in stock anywhere here (at least that any Mintex, Pagid, or EBC distributors know of). I can't believe the Ferodo's are the only streetable pads to fit these calipers I could find in the entire country! Everyone else said they would have to be shipped in from U.K. or Germany, and with shipping, this raised the total price to $200-400 USD just for front pads! If these work out, looks like I'll be sticking to these, or trying some custom Porterfields, as I'm not going to pay such high prices for disposable items like pads.

ouch sorry to hear you had such problems. I am on my second set of Mintex M1144 s which I reckon are pretty good quality. I track the car and find that the Mintex pads are much better than the items that came bundled with the kit. They withstand a higher temp, but the trade off is increased 'grumble' and slightly less bite at lower temps. S ![]()
