CV Joints

Just curious--did a search and didn't find anything.

Anyone have to replace their CV joints yet, and how long do you think the originals will last?

I've only had to replace them on one other car, but that was a Honda Civic with 100K+miles on it.

some what related, but i seen somewhere selling new drive shafts with up rated cv joints, 300 or rights side, 800 for left, for the whole safts. Does not look like a pretty swap tho, according to my service manual, almost the entire front end has to come off.

Yea, that's what I'm worrying about when the warranty goes--when I finally have to swing a wrench on my MCS. Some simple things look pretty accessible, others look like real back breakers, and the number of "BMW Special Tools" the manual calls for is outrageous.

CV joints are never fun, but these look a bit gnarley.

Drive shafts are not that difficult to replace. See it done on my race car in well under an hour without the special tools!Mind you these guys can change a clutch in less than two hours without taking the engine out but in principle the driveshaft change is OK
