S Spokes

I hit a pot hole the other day at about 25mph, nothing to write home about except it felt like I'd hit a wall! Honestly thought I may have hit something, so when I stopped, couldn't see any damage at the front, not realising it was a pot hole that caused the problem. Didn't use the car the next day, following drove off and the warning light on the dash came on for a flat. Got out and tried to blow up the rear flat and noticed some damaged to the rim. Drove to the local tyre place and he noticed the front was also damaged and flat. Also front alloy with a massive scrape, that meant the seal was suspect if a new tyre was put on. 2 x new runflats plus a new s spoke would have come in at about £600.00. So thought oh well and went for the new JCW 18 alloys instead. Took a trip to JCG on 2 x flats approx 60 miles, no problem max 50mph, so don't right off run flats they do have a massive advantages at times. Plus the new JCW 18" look the mutt's nuts!!!! So out of advertisty come's the mutt's!

Have you made a claim to the council in respect of the pothole ?...

I got cut up by a foreign lorry driver on a roundabout last Friday, smacked up the kerb and dented my driver side S spoke. Sounded like I'd ripped off the front of the car! Shook me up a bit.
Really annoyed, had the car since March 1st 05 and there WASN'T a mark on any of the wheels!
The run flats seemed ok, get the feeling that if I had normal tyres they would have burst with that kind of hit.

yep, i had the same problem a few months back when I hit a pothole, actually, it wasn't even a pothole, it was a square, sharp edged hole cut in preparation for a drain being dropped in. It burst a hole in my runflat where it meets the alloy. I've put a claim in against the council, but of course, it was subcontracted out, so it has been passed on to whomever, and I'm still waiting to hear what's happening...

Vitesse, sounds like your story had a happy ending, coz the new JCWs are indeed fab!

Something strange here - a woman changed into my lane without looking last week and cut me into the kerb badly (either that or hit here - I was having visions of the damage) then drove off oblivious.

The impact blew the valve out of my tyre (!!!) and gave me an instant flat. Went to the dealer and they tell me that the track-rod end on the wheel is damaged and needs replacing (under warranty luckily) so I thought '*** it' and went for the JCW 18"'s as well. They're being fitted next week

No damage to my wheels though luckily so those will sell on.

Does testament the RF tyres though. I had an instant total flat and was able to drive home and onto the dealer with no problems.

Blimey you have a good dealer, damage caused by something else wouldnt normally be covered under warranty...

I do love the JCW 18's

Nylo they do look the superb, wasn't sure how they would look but certainly turn heads. How far from the kerb do you park? I don't think I not will risk any closer than a few feet

yes they do, don't they?

I park about a foot from the kerb, and I now have a tendency to drive along the middle of the road too...
