Advice please

Now currently run on 16" white 5 spokes, theyre ok but the brake dust is startin to get on my nerves and there marked (previous owner). All have good tyres.

Option 1
Buy set of silver s spokes off ebay for £300ish (curently on ebay) have two good tyres, need two replacing.
Pro- Still mini, look good, Con - Weighty, needs two tyres

Option 2
Buy set of Superleggeras 17" with goodyear f1 tyres £530ish
Pro - light, good tyres, Con - more expensive, could affect insurance, wrong aspect tyre 205/40/17.

Option 3 - Leave it as it is.

Anyone any opinions/advice/experiences of changing there wheels from what ive got to any of the above etc...

Option 2. Shouldnt affect insurance - you already have a set of alloys, you just getting a differnt set.

Change your pads to green stuff, lot less brake dust. £50 DIY job - easy.

Personally id save up a bit more and get oz superleggras with 205/45 profile tyres.
I have 205/40 profile(went down the cheap route) and a bit disapointed with the ride quality(didnt expect it to be good by any means). Didnt think it would make such a big difference but it does, mind you im lowered too. Do you/plan to have lowering springs fitted?

No experience here with a MINI, but just my honest, and best opinion I have to offer:

Check out tirerack.com for some options. Select a wheel that is your style, and is lighter than stock. I'd recommend the K1R, strong, cheap, and still considered a lightweight wheel. Slap on your current rubber for cost reasons. If you want to step it up a notch, then look for better rubber, and the GS-D3 you're looking at is probably the best option IMO.

Brakes are a compromise. All brake pads will create dust, the best create a lot of it. If you want to compromise some performance for less dust, go for it! A good coat of wax on a set of wheels will go a long ways .

I have a set of silver 5 spokes with fantastic tread on the tyres,two of the wheels are slightly scratched,for £300 if that helps

same here

save up for the oz's, change pads & do the wax on the wheels it really helps a bunch!!!.....BTW an all new wheel for oz will be here in '06

The OZ are also second hand....does anyone have first hand experience of switching to S spokes from other wheels? or to OZ superleggeras? and what effect they had..

Right hes gone down to £500 but im sure will go lower.... people post pics of minis on 17s with 205/40/17 tyres please, wanna know if its going to make my mini look silly with big(ger) arch gaps...

What ever option you go for combine with EBC Greenstuff front pads and the amount of
brake dust will be greatly reduced .

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs
