United-Kingdom Tyre changes....insurance it this true??

hi all, ive been phoning around for prices for some new tyres and i have been told by most tyre dealers that i was to go for the non runflats then this mite affect my insurance in case of a claim! They say that you are changing the specification standards from runflats to non runfltas! is this true?, Has anybody else changed there run flats to non run flats? Let me know please! This is a tricky one!
Thanks. Gary.

Loads of people have done it with no problem at all, but if you're concerned call your insurance company and ask for advice as they're the one the final decision will lie with. Make sure you speak to a manager too, as too often I hear of people getting conflicting advise on "tricky" subjects like this from their insurance companies.

There's more risk to invalidating your insurance if you fit incorrectly rated tyres to your MINI.

There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all.

I rang my insurers (Esure) and asked about going from 205/45x17 runflats to 215/45x17 ordinary tyres and they said no problem and no extra cost.

make sure you get whatever your insurance company has told you in a written letter otherwise you have nothing to stand on other than you saying you spoke to a person on a certain date and so on, i have changed from 17" runflats to 215/45 toyos, phoned my insurance company and they said it was fine unitil i asked for it in writing, eventually they gave in although very reluctantly!

Roadside Assistance *may* be affected

Depending on where you live, you may not get full coverage from Roadside Assistance if you use non-runflat tyres -- see http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...&highlight=usa.
