Offline | Tyre Pressure!!! Hello guys, i have a problem. I replaced my stock wheels and tires with 18 inches KAHNS 215/35/18. My problem is what air pressures shall i put in my tires as i lose pressure from them every 3-4 days. Of course is also the f**** roads that are fixing outside my house. Please give me a proper air pressure to insert in and bear in mind i dont do any tracks just cruising to work and maybe sometimes have a little drag but always in the highways no hard cornering. Thanks |

Offline | Hey there, My MCS has the stock 205/45/17 run flats - the factory PSI on the door sill says 31-38PSI ( depending on load ) - I would start somewhere in that area. Then...buy some chalk - run a wide stripe across your tires ( side to side on the tread ) - then drive a mile or so - maybe less -- look at the chalk stripes. If they are still visible in the center of the tread then you need MORE pressure -- if the stripe is visible on the edges of the tread you need LESS pressure. Repeat as needed to get the stripe to dissapear totally - then you have your correct pressure for that day / load / temp / etc.... As always - if you like "sprited" driving you may want a little more pressure - to prevent the tire from "rolling" inward during high G turns. And always follow the tire manufactures directions. Good luck!! |

Offline | Good tip on the chalk, however, don't forget that a warm tire will add another 1-4psi (depends on the tire and your driving) so this chalk test is best done when the tires are already warmed up. the 31-38 psi pressure is for cold tires, for 18"s I wouldn't run anything less than 34psi. If you're losing pressure every 3-4 days you have a leak somewhere, normal tires might lose up to 1psi a week only. |
