Q about 17 OZ Superleggeras

I've been looking into the 17 OZ Superleggera rims, on the OZ web site under notes, it says that 'some trimming' of the wheelarches (or something) may be required and that spacers will also be required.

I like these rims, but do not want anything that doesn't just 'bolt on', I want no trimming, cutting, spacing etc.

Anyone have any experience here..

(oh its for a Cooper with Sports susp)

Trimming means cutting out your wheel well (plastic fender liner) to allow for a bigger wheel.
It's best to just get the correct size wheel that is a little narrower and/or has less offset. Without looking...just off the top of my head, I think the Superleggeras have around a +50mm offset. The MINI requires around a +48 or so...the larger over stock width your tire is, typically, the LESS offset you need to fit properly. The OZ's would have MORE offset.
More offset= Moves wheels in towards the center of the car (wheels rub in the inside of the wheel well)
Less offset= Moves wheels out (wheels rub in the outside of the fenders and might have to roll fenders)

Hope that helps...

positve offset=more wheel towards the fender

i think tirerack states positive offset means there's more of the wheel heading towards the fender and negative offset means there's more of the wheel headed towards the inside of the car (ie struts)

The 15", 16" and 17" (7" width) OZ Superlegerras all have a 37mm offset. This is a lower offset than any of the OEM MINI wheels (45-50mm offsets) and means that wheels and tires will be closer to the fender. Someone running 215/40-17 tires on 17x7 ET37 BBS RZ wheels has reported wheel-arch rubbing on Roadfly. I'd be wary of running wider than 205 tires on wheels with offsets lower than 40mm.

S Sopkes are 7 x 17 and come with 205/45 tyres.

So if I run 17" (7" width) OZ Superlegerras with 205/45 tyres am I right in assuming they should bolt straight on?

i.e Fit the same as the S Spokes

yes, they will work fine, though the offset is different. The OZ wheels will sit further out...imagine your Sspokes with spacers. Don't worry about it rubbing, there are many people running the OZ Superlegerras that have lowered their MINIs without any rubbing.
