Lightweight Wheel/Tyre Combo

I am after a lightweight set of wheels & tyres.

Currently I have S Spokes with Run Flats, but want something Black.

Any ideas?

Also, should I go for 17s or 16s?

Cheers

to be honest you could fit tractor tyres & they would be lighter than the combo you have now those S Spokes are probably the heaviest standard wheel you can get & the run flats are definately heavier than non-run flats.

there are more opinions than clouds in the sky when it comes to wheel & tyre choice - just read some of the threads in this forum for some ideas/tips. one rule of thumb is the larger the wheel & smaller the tyre profile, the harsher the ride. consensus is generally if you want the best trade off of ride comfort versus handling, 16" are the best option

For looks....then 17" For weight and handling 16" Also 16" are better for making the brakes work less hard to stop the wheel rotating....pretty impoortant if running on tracks etc without a BBK...if you want to get serious.

Sorry dont have any recomendations as to specific wheels though.

Ps. Bin the RFs...they are rubbish for weight, handling, grip and wear. People seem to rate the Toyo Proxi and Goodyear Eagle F1s both of which are not RFs...not sure if there is a lighter tyre than those as the tyre weight is relatively minimal issue for most, however the traction and handling is a big issue so definatly sack the RFs off!

Thumbs up

I changed to lighter weight wheels (17” Pro Race 2s) and non-run flats just over a year ago and cannot praise the swap enough; the ride and handling has greatly improved.

See picture in my gallery.

Superleggeras and Ultraleggeras are very light. You can't get them in black, but the Ultraleggeras come in a really nice anthracite finish.
