Rear brakes changed - opinion please

Firstly I finally got round to changing the rear discs and pads on my MC - what a pain in the @rse that was!. Like many others on the forum here the discs went at about 30,000m much to my shock. And like other people have noticed the inside pad was worn far worse than the outside pad on both wheels. By the way I got the mintex boxed kit off ebay for £60 - these are pattern parts not fast road or anything like that. The guy sent them to me extremely quickly and after bedding them in yesterday they seem to have good bite.

Anyway I wanted to know if these two things are normal after replacing the rear pads and discs:

1. There was no wear indicator on either side of the car (mine is Dec '02 build). I checked under the car on both sides for a strapped up wire but there was nothing to be seen.

2. The handbrake now comes up more than it did before. It isnt ridiculously high but about 4/5 notches now - does the handrake self adjust? Only other cars I have worked on the back brakes of had drum brakes so not sure how it works with discs.
