Offline | Damaged Bullet Alloys Hi, My girlfriend took our 1 month old MCSC out for a drive and managed to hit the kerb whilst driving at about 40mph - don't ask me how!!!! She has managed to damage both front(badly) and rear wheels (slightly). Does anyone know how easily the wheels can be repaired (front wheel is scratched all the way round, down to the metal), if the repair is noticable and how much it would cost? Am I better getting 2 new 17 Bullet wheels and if so, how much are they from Mini? Anyone have 2 for sale? ![]() |

Offline | Hi - sucks huh! Managed to scrape one of mine up really badly too when I was nearly run off the road by a 3-series (aint it always)... still haven't managed to get it properly sorted but at least I've checked it's sound. If the wheel isn't actually damaged structurally, and there's not significant metal missing from the alloy itself, a decent company can restore it to as-new. Had two quite badly kerbed last year and the company I went with in Leicester returned the wheels in mint condition. I'd never have been able to tell which were the kerbed ones. They should tell you if they can do it just by looking at it anyway. I've heard some of them can fill them (presumably with some kind of epoxy resin or something I guess) but I wouldnt trust that. If you do decide to replace the badly damaged one, there are usually some going on Ebay here and there - try '17" Mini wheel' or something, should come up with a few ![]() Good luck! |

Offline | From my experience and what I've heard on here, anywhere up to £50 a corner to get them refurbished, although clearly if they've got to do any reconstruction of edges it would probably be more than if they're just recoating. As for buying off ebay, that's the great thing about it - you never know when you'll pick up a bargain ![]() |
