I run 41psi, it handles better and tyres last longer, but road noise is higher. Certainly 30psi is pretty low.

41 psi sounds really high - I'd be surprised if your tires are wearing evenly with that kind of pressure?
I run 33 at the front and 34 at the back on my 17" non-runflats anyway

this is interesting guys coz i had 30psi in my 215/35/18s and it tramlined a bit then i put in 33 and it has cured all steering issues bloody fantastic. so i would say reedy has the right idea. most people say 30psi is about right for low profile tyres but add a few more worked wonders for me. 33 is the way

I had a friend in the motor trade who was prone to BS, so this may not be true. He said that the manufacturer's quoted tyre pressures are the bare minimum they can get away with, customers complain about noise and bumps if they are higher.

I've found that at standard pressures my tyres always wear out at the edges, so could take a bit more pressure to even it up. I now run mine at the "fully loaded" setting.

I had no problems running at 35psi (2.4 bar) all round as a starting point then adjusting by +/- 2psi front and rear to make the car turn in a little better. That was until i knackered both nearside wheels on a pothole. But i'm not bitter

if you don`t carry much weight in the back of the car drop the backs down by 2 compared to the front, if you regularly carry passengers in the back, about even is ok. I personally run mid 30s
