Offline | I enjoy running in the Friday night drags -- and have been starting to take my S with the run-flats. Since there is nothing done to it, the stock tires seem fine. Normally, I drop lots of pressure for racing, but I don't think that would be a good idea for the run flats? Anyone have any ideas/comments/experience? |

Offline | Just a quick note about dropping PSI at the track. Dropping PSI to increase tire contact patch on radial tires is a myth. It works for bias-ply tires, but not really on radials. What happens when you lower psi on radial tires is that it creates a "cupping" effect, where the middle part of the tire becomes slightly concave, creating a less effective contact patch in the middle. |

Offline | drag racing runflats do not drop the pressures as no gain will be made, only putting undu stress on the side walls on very expensive tyres. How about a thought to all that mass you are trying to accelerate and unsprung weight !. How many seconds can you drop by putting much lighter std tyres on. weight takes horse power to move it ! forwards and round. Andy.H. PS if you must mess with pressures, increase the rears to help reduce rolling resistance. |
