Question 16" Tire recommendations.

Well, it's that time. My MINI has to get new tires and was looking to see what people here in the community would recommend. I would not go with run flats. My milage is a little less than30,000 miles and my front tires are practically bare. (Thanks to dealer refusing to rotate)

Anyways, I'm kinda looking for a mid-range performance tire. What brand would you recommend? I'm not looking for balls out in performance, but a tire to make everyday rides to work enjoyable, and affordable. My tire size is the MINI Cooper 16".

215-50 16 is closer to stock 16s than 205s

I run Traction TAs. Good wet and dry.

I also run 205-50 16s in auto-x
They do help launches though.

If you're referring to the 215/50-16 BF Goodrich Traction T/A V, the Tire Rack lists them for $113 each.

This is an all-season tire ... you haven't really specified whether you're looking for all-season or summer tires.

Also, fitting such tire sizes like 215/50 16 and 205/50 16 on a 195/55/16 is okay?

The reason I ask is a couple tire stores just tried to sell me what was in 195/55/16 category which isn't much and expensive.

195 's are stock ...go to discount tire direct or better just go to tire rack as they have a tool you can use to see the sizes you can safely run i went from 205 45 17's to 205 50 16's with no trouble got em at discount tire as they came mounted and balanced . snow is no longer an issue and they're very good in the rain but are louder .

You can "plus-size" a tire as long as its overall diameter is within ±3% of the factory specification. Both 215/50-16 and 205/50-16 fall within this range, with the latter size being the most commonly used.

Tire stores try and sell you 195/55-16 because that's the OEM size.

Two highly regarded choices in 205/50-16 all-season tires:Quite a few people also run the Falken Ziex ZE-512 but these are a step down performance wise from the two tires above.

Edge Racing has below $100 pricing on all these tires ...

Hong Kong Hankook or Kumho

Mid range budget. I would suggest you to try Hankook RS2 or Kumho KU31, great tire.

i'm running faukens as i don't track the car and don't heat the tires (twistys)much. the faulkens are load rated better than the stock perrelis which says alot for them . you just can't go 150 p.h. .140's cool though.
