VOLK SE37K and Goodyear Eagle F1s just fitted!!!

Hi all, I just fitted my new wheels and tyres two days ago and I thought id post some feedback in the forums. Before I made my decision on wheels and tyres I started this thread about a month ago trying to get opinions and feedback regarding the best wheel/tyre combo performance wise.

http://www.mini2.com/forum/wheels-ty...ut-needed.html

Eventually I ended up buying a set of VOLKS from M2 member Cooper7 and wrapped them in eagle F1s. Firstly I would like to thank everyone that participated in the discussion and especially Paul Mullet for pointing out the wheels that were on sale and Cooper7 for his excellent service and the great price for those unique wheels. Almost felt bad for buying those at £395 but then I remembered that you ditched the VOLKs for the JCWs . I also would like to say thanks to MARTINS TYRES in Woking that fitted the F1s for £300 all included I think this is a new record low price for a set of F1s and yes they are the proper ones made in Germany not the crappy ones from Thailand.

Looks-wise I must admit that my former S-spokes looked a bit better and I much prefer the 17 wheels on a MINI, I think I might have to lower the car a bit more as the wheel gaps seem horribly large with the 16s, but oh well lets proceed to the good stuff. These wheels are freaking unreal!!! It is like I bought a new car, potholes that felt like a canyon before are now barely noticeable, the handling is better, the acceleration is better, the breaking distance is better everything is improved even the fuel consumption. Now I can corner much faster and more aggressively and the acceleration is just awesome, as a comparison when I upgraded my 200bhp works to 210bhp the difference was not a noticeable as the wheel change, it feels like the car got 20 more horses.

Simply put its like wearing army boots and then switching to your favourite trainers. The car feels like it was crawling and now it is gliding I cant believe the difference it makes. As soon as I get a couple of hundred miles on them in order to get the tyres to deliver their full grip I am off to Bedford to run a full test on them. Needles to say that I am a very happy bunny .

Yes I noticed that the tyre looks a bit flat in the pic so I went and gave the car a spin to check it out, the tyre pressure bulb did not come on so I guess it is ok perhaps the stone underneath it makes it look a bit flat. Ill have to check the pressure out got me a bit worried, especially considering these are brand new.

Pleased that you are enjoying them!!!!! I knew i couldn't really express just what a difference these wheels make to a mini, you just have to get in and have a blast with them on. Really pleased that i sold them to a performance enthusiast like yourself, sure they will serve you well. Got to admit i was a bit gutted after you'd gone almost annoyed at myself for selling them but needs must and all that. Bet the car almost took off after you swapped the s spokes for wheels that weigh half as much! They are a bit of a one off so enjoy yourself and the attention they will undoubtedly bring at track days and performance events. Must say thanks to you as well, as after being messed about in the past with these wheels it was a pleasure to deal with you throughout and im so pleased you like the wheels. Drop the car a bit more and you'll be on to a winner!

300 quid for the tyres and fitting I'm comming to woking next time i get some new
F1's, thats got to be a record.

The F1's do make a real difference to the drive, i was gob smacked after i'd fitted mine,
at just how different it was when compared to the 17 inch runflats, no more tram lining,
great cornering and grip, i'll never go back to runflats.

the wheels on your car look great by the way
