| only the brave! | What size tyres on JCW 18's Ready to replace the dreaded runflats with Goodyear F1's but they dont come in 205/40/18 so what size should i go for?? 225/35/18 215/35/18 was the JCW rim designed for 205 wide tyres or was just a last min runflat they stuck on it, what effect does running wider tyre have, does make the tyre deform?? Anyone got any pics of 18'' wheels on 35 tyres with normal S SS+??? |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Well the 40 on 205/40/18 is the height as a percentage of the width in mm. A 205/40 has a height of 82mm (205 / 100 x 40) A 215/35 has a height of 75.25mm (215 / 100 x 35) A 225/35 has a height of 78.75mm (225 / 100 x 35) I know the JCW wheels require a rack reducer to be fitted to stop them rubbing on full lock. I don't know how much room this gives you before they rub, might need to take a look with the wheels on full lock to decide which width to go for but even with the 225 your only adding 10mm each side and I would of thought the rack reducer would give you a little more room than just 10mm. The 225 wheel is also the closest to the original tyres height too. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | 225/35 R18 won't fit The minimum wheel width for these tyres is 7.5" and the JCW wheels are 18" x 7"Only option in my opinion is 215/35 R18 as this is the most popular size. I wouldn't go for the 205/40 R18 as only know of 2 options, the OEM and a Micehlin, plus they're not cheap. Plus 215/35 R18 don't rub even without the steering lock limiter ![]() |

| only the brave! | so just been digging around mainly mister tyres himself's (Damo) posts, so should i go 215/35/18 Eagle F1's 215/35/18 Yoko Parada's or 205/40/18 Michelin PS2's according to tyretest, the Eagle is better all round, but the yoko is more easily availible and has a wider look to them, and the Michelin will fill my arches better(normal S sports suspension plus) and has almost same results on tyretest as the Eagle F1 but more expensive!! HELP!!! |

Offline | Mint Just take it easy in the wet until you get somewhere to practice They are very predicatble, and good stopping, but its just the cornering......but then in the dry the reason they're slippy in the wet, is the reason they're awesome in the dry ![]() |
