United-Kingdom Newcastle Upon Tyne Garages That Replace Runflats

Hi

I am wanting to replace my 195/55/R16 H Goodyear Eagle NCT5 Runflat Tyres fitted to my oem 5 spoke alloys with ANY NON Runflat tyre! The problem being, is that EVERY garage I have phoned or popped in for a chat in the Newcastle Upon Tyne area has said that they WONT touch my Tyres unless I replace them with Runflats!!!
Could anyone in the area PLEASE tell me of ANY garage that WILL replace the HORRID Runflats?? I am thinking of fitting TOYO PROXES T1-R tyres, anyone got any feedback with these tyres? I think ANYTHING will be better than Runflats!!
Many Thanks In Advance

My dealer WONT help me at all and INSISTS that I require Runflat tyres!
My MOT is due soon and my tyres will require changing to pass so I would be grateful if anyone could tell me of an INDEPENDANT garage in the Newcastle Area that WILL fit NON Runflats for me!

Never...

The only problem I can see is getting the Runflat off the wheel. Due to the stiff side wall, it requires a special machine to remove it.

Try the National Tyres and Autocare near St Jame's Park. Whilst I've never replaced runflats (I just swapped the wheels), they do seem quite laid back there. Worth a try.

Popped into National Tyres this morning and spoke to the guy at the desk. Told him my scenario but he said they wouldnt replace them with non runflats. He said that it WAS possible but if I had a crash and it was caused by the tyres, he didnt want to be held responsible!!! I just cant believe the CR*P that garages have told me about fitting of NON Runflats!

I don't get the big deal.....all you are doing is replacing the tyres.

What does it matter to them if they're runflats or not.....

It's like a big conspiracy.

YOU tell me mate! Ive recently read 100s of posts on here about the same problem! Some of the excuses range from "Runflats have a special runflat alloy" "the tyre indicator low pressure warning light will continually flash" etc etc etc
I just want to be able to buy the tyres I WANT and fit them to MY car!

Maybe if you tell us where you've tried we can suggest some other places to try. I think Tyre Spot (Sandy Lane) will fit non-runflats to your car. I discussed this with them a while ago and they didn't sound too concerned about the idea.

Yep! Tyrespot on Scotswood Road, they've done it many times for us and don't have any issues with it, will order in things if they don't have it in stock

Ive phoned EVERY BMW Mini dealer in the North East, ALL Kwik-Fit, National Tyres, ATS branches.
I havent tried Tyrespot so have just emailed them and will also ring them tomorrow - thanks for that!
Does anyone know of any independant garages that can remove Runflats (been told you need a special tyre removal machine) and fit NON Runflats?
Many thanks to all who are trying to help as its MUCH appreciated.

Hi Laura
I am thinking of buying the tyres from mytyres.co.uk as they have them for £56.10 each with FREE postage. Will tyrespot scotswood just fit and balance the tyres if I buy them elsewhere?

No wonder you couldn't find anyone to fit non-runflats!
