DIY Noisy rear brakes - need your help please!

Hi all,

I replaced my rear discs and pads a few months ago with standard Mintex ones. I didnt have any trouble winding in the pistons at the time. For the first few days the brakes were fine but now they make an awful squeeling noise under light braking - sometimes it is pretty dang bad. This only happens when the brakes are warmed up.

I have adjusted the handbrake up to 4/5 notches just in case it was rubbing but still the same noise. The handbrake works fine by the way. I notice that the wheels do get warm after a journey but no worse from one side to the other and no worse than the front wheels.

Wonder what you guys think - could it be the aftermarket pads or discs (or both), or maybe sticky calipers?

Most likely problem is that the pads are vibrating and thus the squeal. Every time I have changed pads I have used an anti-squeal gel/paste. This is what I have used. The 4oz bottle lasts a long time.

Try 3in one anti seize copper grease you can buy it from halfords for £4.25 I had the same problem sounded like a bus used this on backs of pads and caliper and it seems to have worked

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned that i fitted the pads with copper grease at the back and runnders of the pads upon fitting. I thought maybe I hadnt put it in the right place so I took it to my mechanic who re done it for me - he put loads of copper grease on them.

Is that grease any better than copper grease?
