Replacing Runflats

I know that this has probably been answered before but I need to get my tyres changed and need a quick response please.

I need to replace 2 front tyres which are currently Pirelli runflats (same as on the rear). I know that I can go for non runflats as long as I carry a can of tyre foam for punctures. My question is - is it okay to have runflats on the rear but ordinary tyres on the front? As my rears are virtually new, I don't want to replace all four.

Thanks in advance.

Just out of curiosity, why do you need to carry a can of tyre foam for punctures?

Is this for legal reasons or just common sense?

Common sense really - not sure about the legal requirements.

Well yeah, common sense really. If you have a puncture with a none runflat on, you can't drive the car then cause there isn't a spare to replace it with.

What tyres are you planning on replacing them with?

I'm thinking about Goodyear Eagle F1's.

Still need someone to reply to my original question though.......

Hello
It has a problem, if you go to put the F1, you will have to modify the measure, since, in 205/45/17 does not exist F1 tire… For me use tires of different measures will not be a good option… only my opinion. If you want to change for the F1 changes the 4...

Best Regards

I'm looking to switch from runflats to non-runflats pretty soon. Front 2 tires (Goodyear Eagle RS-A EMT) are almost at the end of their life (24,000 miles), and I'm having a hard time with the cost of the replacements. I've read that non-runflats are the way to go based on cost, performance, ride and handling (despite the obvious risk of getting a flat in the middle of nowhere), but I'm not sure what new tires to get.

Any suggestions?

How about the Falken Ziex Ze 512, Toyo Proxes 4, Toyo Proxes T1r, Avon tech M550 A/S, Kumho ECSTA AST etc. etc. etc.

You can run x2 Runflats on the Back and x2 Non's on the front ie Eagle F1's

People on hear have done it before, ive asked the question myself and was going to do it but only need one tyre in the end (luckily only one was knackerd!)

Another member assured me you can do it (and had done it himself), if you need to know who it is drop me a pm and im sure he will advise you that you can do it too

Checkout mytyres.co.uk for Eagle F1's last time I looked they were £88 each! Not bad eh!!?

Thanks for your help guys.

I decided to go for runflats again and they are very expensive! £256.00 all in (for 2) but then I went for the computer geometry which was extra. Have to say though that it drives like a different car now - it feels really sharp and alot less twitchy when pressing on round the back roads!!

I couldn't justify replacing all four tyres and didn't want to take any unnecesary risks with mixing.

If you rotate your tires every 5,000 miles or so they will last a lot longer.

I always buy from tirerack.com. Last set of tires were all-season Kumho ECSTA ASX 205s, fairly highly rated for wet and dry and about 1/3 the price of the accursed, short-lived, poor-handling, grossly over-priced run-flats.

If you are looking for a summer tire, I like the Kumho ECSTA SPT for an excellent economical tire with much longer life than those stinking putrid, run-flats
