newbie question

hi all

Can I ask a dumbo question...

I have 17" 5 spoke Bullets on my new mini and want to change them (ideally 17 Inch BK299 Hi power black Alloy Wheels With 205/40/17 Tyres) as mine are new and have new tyres is it a straightforward swap? do i need to worry about offset?

Many thanks for any help!

oh and have read thread quoting "R90" etc - whats that is the 'r' a name of wheel?

I think you want to have a look at the faqs. There's pics and all sorts in there.

OEM wheels have offsets in the 45-52mm range. Members have fitted aftermarket wheels with an offset as low as 35mm. You need to select the appropriate wheel size and tire size combinations in order to avoid tire rubbing and ensure relative speedometer accuracy.

OEM wheels sometimes have different names in different markets ... 17x7 R85 wheels are called "S-spoke" in the UK and "S-lite" in the US. While the "name" may be different the "R" designation (R85 in this case) is the same. The "R" designation is sometimes referred to as the "Style".
