DIY Runflat Help

Hi all,

Had a search through pages & pages on the runflat subject, but could not find what I was looking for. Running 2003 Cooper S on Pirelli run-flats. Thing is i need to replace x2 but not sure if the stick with them or go for Dunlop, but then I will have mixed tyres? Do the Pirellis leek around the seals?

I await your help...

Thanks

There's loads of debate about this (do an advanced search, titles only, for pirelli dunlop in the Wheels, Tyres, Suspension & Brakes section). The general consensus seems to be that the Dunlops are the better of the two. I don't think mixing tyres matters as long as the fronts are the same and the rears are the same.

Ditch the heavy, PITA run-flats and get 4 performance radials off, like I don't know...Tirerack.com or wherever you get your tires. But, for the ridiculous price, the frailty (get a nail, just can't plug it, gotta replace it), the extra weight and the lack of handling performance on a car that is meant to handle well, I don't see why anyone wouldn't just switch to some good performance radials. Just get some Fix-A-Flat in a can or whatever if you're really paranoid about getting a flat in a bad spot or time of day. Just my $ .02.
