JCW Star Alloys 18" lock restrictor

Does anyone KNOW (not speculate) whether or not it is necessary to have the lock limiters fitted to the MINI in order to run stock John Cooper S Works Star Alloys 18" & tyres ?

I can get a new set for quite a bit less than the £1700 the stealers want but I'll have to put them on myself and the lock limiters are not included.

You can, and people have put them on without. They will rub at extremes, but then so do the OEM 17" a little.

Of course it's advised you use the limiter, but from what I've seen on here many haven't and are not unhappy.

I know folks who have fitted without the limiter and its not a problem. I even know some who have had them without the limiter on lowered cars. They do touch but only on lock...which when your at speed you won't usually do...and to be fair even when reverse parking most folks dont go to full lock, so you'll not otice the scrubbing. Plus like Paul says even the 17" rims touch the car

Many thanks guys, should be a laugh with my SS+ & Strutbrace, like a horse & cart already with S Spokes !

Will these fit the R56?

I still don't like it, but after seeing the pictures of that Astro Black one with the checkmate wheels, putting these JCW's on may just be enough to keep me in a MINI when I finally let my trusty cooper go next year.

I looked at that thread with the blue & yellow "S"'s and the 17" crowns were drowned these things need 18"'s
