18" or 19" on R56 Cooper

What you think will suit a Cooper with Aerokit best, 18s or 19s?
I know it makes the handling worse but the question is for show, the weelarches looks bigger on the new Cooper so personaly I think 19s would be the best.

What are you thinking and whats you plans?

I vote for 18" (at the most)... with about a 1-1 and 1/2 inch drop. Any bigger and you won't want to drive it anywhere 'cause the first pothole you find will mushroom your sheet metal in the front strut towers.

Carbon black 18" Oz superturismo GTs, lowered, is the way that I would go for putting on show and keep a spare set of 17" Crowns for normal driving.. If you can put up with swaping them all the time!

Cheers

Jim

...that's assuming the suspension travel is similar to the R53. From what we've heard so far, the R56 has more travel. I think 17 through 19" wheels will look best, but exactly which size will depend on specific wheel design.

I've ordered the 18" JCW wheels for mine, should I cancel and go for the 17"'s instead, I'm worried that the ride and handling for every day use will be pants with the 18's fitted. Need urgent advise please ..............

I put on my 18' oz ultralaggera's on my new R56 MCS, and one thing is clear, it needs to have a drop of at least 30mm, its now looking as an X MCS

I would not consider 18s or 19s on an MC.

I spent last week driving an R56 MC with Sport suspension and 16s and liked the firmness of the ride with no nasty bangs on the rather poor roads round here. Back in my R56 ( MCS ) on standard suspension and 17s today I found myself trying to avoid some of the sunken manhole covers etc in the roads around Edenbridge. These are roads where my daughter in her MCC on 16s ruined a wheel and tyre in a pothole.

I guess it depends on how good your local roads are and how important apperances are. For me appearance is considerably less important than ride so wheels larger than 17s make no sense.

On my current mcs I have 18s with 215/35 tyres and H&R lowering springs and I dontīt have a problem at all. But maybe the roads here are better.

i will definitely go for at least 18"s on my R56 MC.

19" Falken Circuit Specs with 215/35/19 tires and H&R lowering springs, stiff ride but no problems.
