Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 versus 1.2

What's the difference between these two wheels?

Not much... the 1.2's have the name molded/embossed into the metal, but other than that, I couldnt see a difference. Perhaps weight?

This from someone who has both ...

TD version 1.2 are slightly heavier (approx 750g a wheel), still 45 offset but need 15mm spacers to clear my calipers.

1.0 version has curved, thinner spokes - they arch out from the hub, however 1.2 spokes are thicker and the back does not arch out in the same way as the 1s.

Also 1.0s are matt black, 1.2 are gloss.

I have a brand new set of these FS in the classifieds, chose the 1s as they were slightly lighter and better looking IMO without the wording moulded into the rim. heres a pic if nobody knows what they look like.

And from OutMotoring who sells both ...

Quote:
The PR1.2 has a flatter lip and has the TD logo stamped into the rim. The spokes are deeper and wider as they come towards the hub and the spokes recess in a bit as they hit the rim in comparison to the PR1. The PR1 has more clearence for big brake kits as the spokes on the PR1.2 are deeper by a good .4". They are both nearly identical in wieght.

I have the 1.2s in gloss black and know someone with both anthracite (very rare) 1s and gloss black 1.2s. His 1s will clear his stoptech bbk setup but the 1.2s require a 15mm spacer same as the guy with APs. The only reason he can see is that the 1s have a different spoke than the 1.2s...they look alike from the outside but there are differences from the rear.

Is this because they don't make them now, make very few, or are not the preferred choice of purchase?

Cheers,

I think even when they were making them (I believe from talking to suppliers that TD have stopped the PR 1.0s) the anthracite was very rare to find.

I put mine on the scales and the 1s are lighter than the 1.2s.

But I bought my 1s from a fellow M2er who said they were pre-production versions (the centre caps do not fit) and they forged in a mag alloy - hence the 750g weight difference per wheel over the 1.2s.

Pics of both

TD1

You can see how the spokes curve out away from the hub.

TD2

(slow puncture on my old toyos!)
