Unhappy Do I really new new calipers?

Just had my girlfriend's 53 reg mini for a service and was told that it required new rear and pads. Not the end of the world, so I said OK, hoping that would be the end of this.

Got a phone call a few hours later saying that the calipers also needed replacing as the springs had fused with the caliper and the only way of getting these off would be to snap them off. Consequently new calipers would be required. Apparently, per the authorised Mini dealer, this happens quite a lot!

Just wondering whether anyone else has had similar problems and managed to overcome them. I would hate to have to fork out £318 + vat for something that seems a bit of a design flaw.

Cheers

Arrow Upgrade

Time to upgrade.

If they are replcing the parts under warranty, then could they fit the JCW brakes instead, and you just pay the difference - great opportunity.

if not warranty, then you could go for a big brake kit, AP do one for £700 - i'm selling the calipers for about £400 and you only need rotors then at about £150.

all options.

Cheers,
K.

Car is 4 years old so no warranty. I am trying to keep costs down as this car is mainly used for commuting by my girlfriend and I have my own 05 Golf Gti to play with
