Time, patience and a clay bar/paint rubber from Swissol, Zymol, Meguiars and the like.

Restored my brother's white S-spokes from a similar state using a Swissol Paint Rubber

Autoglym clean wheels is awesome at dissolving brake dust, its just corrosive enough to take off the brake dust but doesnt damage the wheel.

The best product for cleaning wheels, as recommended by many detailers, is Meguiars Wheel Brightener. No other product comes close.

It must be diluted and only normally comes in large 3.78 litre packages. But you can often get places that will sell you smaller quantities.

It is a pro product so not available from your local motor shop but can be purchased from the Meguiars website in large form.

After this you may need to use a clay bar too. Meguiars Quik Clay is a cheap option and is available from Halfords.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Hi,

Forget all of those fancy products.

Get some kerosene (or petrol), and gently rub it on the affected area with a cloth. The dust will melt away before your eyes. Once finished, wash the wheel thoroughly, and wash with a wax or protective product.

This is by far the quickest and best way to remove brake dust and caked on bitumen etc etc

Cheers

Robbo
