Brake upgrade help needed.....

I am just in the process of upgrading to jcw brake kit on my wife's mcs jcw. I have got my local dealer to supply them for £450 plus vat. However, after seeing the new r56 jcw drilled and slotted front discs, i now want these.....

I spoke to the local dealer again, who was very helpful and after digging around confirmed that dimension wise these discs are the same size as the jcw brakes for the r53 i.e 294mm by 22mm. The price is only about £10 more per disc.

However, he said there is a note on the system saying that these disc should only be used on the r56 model.

He couldn't say why.....

Does anyone have an answer, because I can't see why not, they are the same size and I assume the stud spacing/bolt holes are the same.

Any ideas....??

Chris at Woodmans as already said that you can't fit r56 brakes on an r53 so he may know why.

It may possibly be because the bolt size has changed from 12 to 14mm. If you have a late build '06 or GP they utilize the 14mm bolts. My guess is that they wii fit the later build '06's. If someone could verify this and you still wanted to do it TSW is having some studs made to go from 14mm to 12mm for people that want to use wheels with the 12 mm bolt holes
