Replacement pads in R53 JCW sports brake kit

What pads can go into the JCW brake package apart from the official, original (expensive) JCW pads?

Nobody seems to have a definate answer or know of an aftermarket pad?

Can anyone help me please?

Good morning

Similar question here - but no clear answers yet

http://www.mini2.com/forum/john-coop...-question.html

The R56 pads are the same shape etc, different material and 50% of the price of the JCW ones.

Hi Guys, I am guessing here as to why BMW make such a point about not listing the R56 MCS pads as the same part as the JCW ones, but it could be that (for example) Jurid got the contract to supply the OEM R56 MCS pads to BMW ,and ATE got it for the JCW. Therefore although both are equally OK on either car, the politics insist that each make is listed as the replacement for one model only. ?
Best Regards Roland GTT.
ps same applies to the discs.

They could well be different material. The 1 series 118 discs/calipers look identical to the JCW
R53 combination. The pads are slightly different in shape. For the 118 EBC recommend their
Premium (i.e. standard) pads as straight replacements or Greenstuff as an upgrade. For the
JCW R53 they recommend Redstuff as straight replacements or Yellowstuff as an upgrade.
So two identical looking brakes have quite different pad material for their different applications.
Unfortunately the pad shape they list for the JCW are 1377 and are completely wrong .

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

Ok i have the JCW callipers with JCW discs and JCW pads now.

I still have not been able to obtain any concrete facts about the JCW brakes and R56 pads so here are a couple of scenarios i am considering and hopefully someone can shed some light.

Do either

Buy the R56 pads as a replacement for my wearing JCW pads

OR

Buy the R56 grooved and drilled discs and the R56 pads and replace my JCW discs and pads?

I also could not get any definitive answers

My set up now on the GP is

R56 drilled and slotted rotors with R56 Pads - been on for 500 miles

R56 pads are the same shape size etc, appear to be a different material but are 50% of the price of JCW - probably due to volume of manufacture as they are standard R56 cooper S pads.

Car stops very well, but then again it did on the standard set up. I need to give it some track exposure or consistant fast heavy road use to see if they fade.

RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog lists the R53 JCW pad set as :-

11 PAD REP. KIT JURID 180 HA J. COOPER WORKS 1 34216770252

maybe 180ha is the material spec?
