Clicking noise turning right

Hey folks,

When I'm driving really slowly (i.e. less than 5km/h) and have the steering wheel turned to the right (nearly full lock), I get a clicking noise coming from the front left of the car. Any ideas what it is? I'm on eibachs with 215/40R 17" tyres.

Oh and it's REALLY loud on concrete like in a car park.

cheers,
Gr1zz

I had a clicking noise when I turned my wheel. Turned out to be a problem with the steering column. Was fixed by dealer under warranty. If it is the same problem as your's it is a 'known' fault.

It's the CV joint. Mine needs replacing on my Cooper S. Just a wear and tear item I'm afraid.

It was acceptable in the 80's

I had almost the exact same thing about 2 years ago. It was something in the steering column. It was done under warranty and its a very common fault. Without hearing it though yours could be either and if its coming from the left of the car i doubt its the steering column
