Offline | when to upgrade brakes? when to upgrade brakes? with TLC you get fluid change at 2 yrs foc ? ![]() my car is 2yrs old next month, so have been thinking about an upgrade to pads/discs, but have not got the budget for a big brake kit so should i try a diy/non OEM upgraded kit then get dealer to fluid change? or will i get the "non BMW so sorry cant touch it sir" story? [ gtt220 + monster brace so its obiviously a modified car already] to miss out on the "free" fluid change cuts against the grain [£70.00 if not on tlc ], in my opinion to get anything back from the stealer's being a worthwhile exercise... the car has 20k on it so life in the OEM bits yet, but we all know there is scope for improvement, is it possible to up-grade to r56 spec with this and use TLC or i am i being daft? open to suggestions ![]() ![]() carefree |

Offline | As soon as you're really tired of the brake dust from the stock pads/rotors. I waited until about 22,000 miles, and wish I did it sooner. The stocks were about half (rotors) to two thirds (pads) worn out by then. |

![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | Brake fluid change should be done no matter what! TLC is not free, well it is if the car is 2nd hand but you have to pay for it when the car is specced so the servicing is paid for. When i do get a big brake kit soon i wont be goin back to the dealer as ill be getting DOT 5.1 fluid in and i dont think the dealers will use that. So basically Servicing is free but its not lol. If you are keeping the same calipers and renewing the discs and pads then they should do the fluid change! Hope this helps Scott |

Offline | fully aware no such thing as a "free" lunch or TLC, paid £150.00 when ordering car but wish to keep book fully stamped up by dealer, and having paid for it may as well use it if at all possible.. just thought R56 kit might be an option, as a budget upgrade, keeping OEMmight be better on insurance as well not looking for track time, just some reassurance from the middle peddle, ![]() the fluid will be changed, might even be twice if i end up having to go with after market option ![]() carefree |
