Cost is maybe the limiting factor?! How much is this set-up?

Tarox 10-Pot Brakes - Price

Motor Sport World have a price of £1708 for the 310 x 20mm kit & 1765 for the 318 x 26mm kit.

I think the rear disks in standard size are about another £300 and £554 for 310 x 11mm & £578 for 323 x 11mm rear discs.

Replacement front disks are pricey at about £675 a pair if I remember rightly.
Pads come in at about £160 a pair.
At the top end pricewise - yes!
Are they value - yes!
Their performance is commesurate with their price.
There's no free lunch in tuning, you get what you pay for - if you're lucky.
You get a lightweight aluminium calipher & the reduced inertia of minimising disk size for given braking power & pad area.
It shouldn't be forgotten that the larger the disk diameter the greater the inertia which the engine & drivetrain have to overcome to accelerate the vehicle.
For this reason ( & a few others) Formual One cars minimise wheel & disk diameter & weight.

Hear's the email from Tom at Lohen

Hi Scott, the cost of new discs for the AP Big Brake Kit are £210.00 inc VAT. They would need to be ordered, and this would take about 1 week. Postage cost to you will be £12.80 on a next day service. Unfortunately discount isn't available on the AP's.

I dont know, no ones ever worn a set out yet. The ones on our car I have just inspected after nearly 30,000miles of hard late braking. There is no warpage or cracking, thickness has only reduced by 1.5mm.
Replacement GTT rotors would be around £159+vat each
Best Regards Roland GTT

Nice to know that my disks should last me a long time, even with my driving style!

I had the chance to give them a good try out on Sunday after bedding them in. Superb. Very progressive but when you really jab them they really pull up well and I have much more confidence in them than the OEM calipers.

The limiting factor for my braking distance is now the tyres, which are Eagle F1 GSD3's.

Cant wait to really push them on the track.

I was filling up with petrol last night when a guy stopped walking past, walked back, and had a good look. As I walked out he noticed me and said, "hi, sorry, was just checking those brakes out. They are remarkable!"

Caused quite the stir at a local car show. Had cars from 1922 to Skylines and motorbikes. The amount of people taking pictures of the brakes and the engine was amazing. Even the classic car owners liked it.

Ohh look! I got off my **** and took some photos!

Yes, my wheels need a clean. They always do. Took these this morning, and I havent washed Ellie since before the Malverns run, so they arent too bad.

They have now bedded in and they are awesome. Progressive, powerful and they look awesome. I had never touched my brakes before now, and it wasnt too difficult ot fit. I had a couple of bolts stuck on my car that I drilled out, but otherwise hastle free.

The limiting factor with stopping distance is the tyres. Saying that, it does seem a lot quicker than before, but I never did any before and after tests.

No, the ABS doesnt kick in any more.

The most important thing about a BBK is is stopping from 120mph, or slowing from other high speeds to slower speeds for corners on a track, and then repeating it every few seconds again and again. This would normally kill a set of OEM brake setup.

Wow, these brakes are simply awesome! Bhozar took me out in his car today, he didnt even look like he slammed the brakes on and I thought I was going to go through the windscreen!

Thank god the seat belt stopped me, but it felt like my face was still going!

The best way to describe how good these are is when we were racing up behind a Golf coming upto a roundabout on a dual carrige way. We were coming up really fast behind the slow moving golf. Alex just gives it some harsh braking (he didnt slam the brakes on) and with a split second the car had decelerated soo much it looked like the Golf had accelerated hard and we were going backwards, the difference in speed was phenominal!

I'm no idea how realistic this is but it feels like the stopping distance is 75% less than it was!

Over my standard brakes, the difference is amazing! We must have been doing about 60-70 on the dual carrige way and the way alex braked, without even stamping on the brakes, made me feel like he could make the car come to a hault within 3 seconds
