Replica Alloys?

has anyone bought the Replica alloys widely available on ebay?

If so what is the quality like?

If looking for an alternative set of wheels and like the OEM look, the wheel & tyre combos available on eBay seem a reasonable price.

If I were to opt for one of these sets of wheels I would then not be on runflats, what do any of you do in this case? do you carry a can of tyre weld or a spare wheel?

cheers

Cheap alloys

I presume that you are looking at the R90 replicas,If so I wouldnt bother. You can see some for sale that are used, if you look closely the are corroded (looks like peeling lacquer)They probably wont last one British winter, the salt wrecks them.I had a set of BK 299s on a previous car they were the same.As you also mention, they arent RFs, no spare No offence to anyone who has bought a set....just make sure that they are cleaned often.

I have R90 replicas but they are different from the ebay ones. The fronts are ok but the
rears have corroded. I assume it is stone chips that have smashed the lacquer so you get
a star pattern in the lacquer followed by the alloy rusting. To get mine reconditioned by the
time I paid for the tyres to be removed, alloys reconditioned and the tyres but back on I
was looking at a bill for more that the original purchase price (slightly under £300). So if
you do buy the ebay ones my advice is to get a large can of lacquer and spray several
additional coatings over the polished section (the painted section on mine is fine).
"The bolt pattern is 4x100mm. The centerbore is 56.1mm. The offset (ET) can range
from 35mm to 52mm depending on the wheel size, as detailed in the FAQs on factory
and aftermarket wheel availability." All from the FAQ section of mini2 .

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

Yeah, I've been running R90 replicas for over three years now...

And I have to say they've been great. No problems here, but fortunately, it seems, we don't need to salt our roads in Australia.
