| MINI2 Regular | Huge brake fade from EBC green stuff pads Just had the worst brake fade that I ever encountered on a car. The ecb green stuff pads and new standard discs have been on the car for 2000 miles so they are well run in. I had a spirited run with a Type RA Impreza reaching speeds of 120mph and braked hard.....fade started about 2 sceonds later and the car didn't want to stop all at a private track of course.Any one else had scary brake fade from the ebc green stuff. |

Offline | Green stuff will not stop the S if your driving very spirited as the heat off the S stock brakes is huge and its not only the pads that are the issue. Until you change to a bigger/bestter cooled disc etc then you will get fade on just about every type of pad...as its the heat from the braking being stored in the discs thats the issue |

| MINI2 Regular | I have had a look at the uprated discs on the market...brembo, tarox, reddot, black diamond etc. Which ones come highly recommended as a direct replacement for the standard setup. I am running 16" custom image split rims which limits the size of the brake upgrades. I know ap racing , wilwood , brembo and high spec do kits for under £1000 but I will need to budget for some bigger alloys. |

Offline | TBH the stock disc size is just not big enough and the pad too small too. No matter what you use you will get heat fade until you go the a physically bigger disc and pad combo. I run JCWs and for road use they far out poerform the stock brakes for heat fade and braking capacity. However the JCW still go into meltdown when really pushed...TBH the only way forward is a BBK if you tend to find your that brutal on brakes. |

| I'm avin 'oops | Have never used EBC for several reasons fade being one of them Had alot of scary tales told me when on my old cars and even disc damage where the pads failed and the scoring happened on discs - the pads were only weeks old at teh time Always used to use Predator Pads and never had any HUGE probs Mintex are normally v good tho ![]() More Air + More Fuel = More Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Offline | If you are getting Mintex (and plan to track the car) I've had good performance from 1155s up front and 1144s on the rear. I'm now running EBC Yellows at all four corners. Performance just as good as the Mintex 1155/1144 combo. At a much lower cost. Alan p.s. I run about 10 two day track events per year. |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | I just wish EBC had never changed their pad compounds. The original 90's greenstuff were fantastic. You couldn't use 90's redstuff on a road car at all as they required a lot of heat to work. They then had blackstuff that were standard pad replacements. Now greenstuff = old black stuff, redstuff are more like greenstuff and bluestuff are like the old yellowstuff. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | I had the exact same thing you're talking about! I was enjoying my victory over a Porshe Boxster from 0 to just under 130mph when another sodding car pulled out right in front of me! I had to brake the hardest I have ever braked, in fact, my brake pedal was pushed against the carpet it was pushed down so hard. I didnt dare turn the steering wheel incase I lost control due to corner braking so just kept in a straight line. I have to report that the ABS light did not come on and the wheels didnt even lock up, not even once - the Greenstuff pads are awful, their stopping power is definately WORSE than stock. My car didnt stop hurtling towards the Jaguar rear end in front of me - I would assume the distance of braking was around 50-60 metres? And my car was still going at 70mph, the Jaguar literally swerved onto the edge of the grass verge to avoid me hitting him from behind - needless to say the Porsche had practically stopped about 60 metres further back up the road... All the way home my brakes were crap, and even the next day they felt different. The sooner I get rid of my Greenstuff pads the better I say. Just bought a Mini Cooper S !! |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | There's isn't a light for ABS BTW, just a juddering through the pedal. Pedal going to the floor is usually the fluid boiling and not the pads. With pad fade the pedal stays firm but you lose stopping power. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |
