Offline | Dealer wheel refurb, 2nd try, still shoddy - should I pay? Hi all, Seems the service dept at my dealership is falling apart since my tech Mick moved on to greener pastures. ![]() Just had a total of 6 wheels refurbed between my Cooper and S. Went to inspect and they were awful, orange peel and paint runs - all the valve caps missing. Turns out the dealership have fallen out with the "normal" guy, who was great, now they are using the "official bodyshop". I refused to accept the wheels in this state so they went back for a 2nd attempt - I was told I couldn't have them done by the "normal" guy - I advised I would not be letting the bodyshop have a 3rd try. Sure enough they are no better and hilariously on the S they haven't re-done the passenger side wheels but instead both front wheels (one of which was still factory perfect). Again, all the valve caps missing. I'm bored now - not interested in a 3rd attempt and certainly not interested in paying for shoddy workmanship - frankly I could do a better job with an aerosol can. What would other members do? Oh, and I now have scratches down both sides of the car that look like it’s been keyed from wheel arch to wheel arch – deliberately driven against a bush or something similar, maybe by the disgruntled bodyshop wheel refurb guy? The scratches are fairly light, they should polish out, fingers crossed…… Cheers, Geoff. Last edited by drainaudio : Aug 15th, 2007 at 08:12 AM. |

Offline | I'd definitely be having a moan about the scratches, and refuse the pay for the wheels on the grounds that you're still going to have to have them reburbished properly elsewhere. ![]() |

Offline | Cheers to the moderator who moved this post.. Firstly it's more of a moral question - should I pay or not?, rather than a topic concerning Tyres, Suspension or Brakes. Secondly if you'd bothered to check my profile you'd see it's a 1st gen Cooper S. Need some extra coffee this morning? Thanks, Geoff. |
