Offline | Tyre (Tire) Life Okay it's probably been done to death elsewhere ... but what tyre life are people getting out of their cars. I know it depends upon driving style, routes taken, weather, temperature, etc. But I would like an idea ... a sort of 'average' ![]() Open is the Business |

Offline | I got through a set of 17" Dunlop runflats in about 12k miles (just under 2 years). My Mum's MINI has done about the same mileage over 5 years and the tyres are still like new ![]() |

Offline | Seem to be averaging around 8K miles . Very little long distance stuff lots of twisty country roads and some town, with a fairly punishing style of driving ...... brake pads and discs have also been renewed all round after about 30K miles ![]() Read an article recently that the runflats wear quicker and will be changing to non-runflats with the next set. Wanted this anyway because of the reported extra handling (due to non runflats being a lot lighter) and extra comfort. Seems to be a real consensus of opinion on the forums about the benefits of the none runflats. Mini: Drive and feel alive. Last edited by Mini_me : Aug 21st, 2007 at 05:41 PM. |

Offline | Old rubber One the subject of tyre life - anyone on original rubber? Was looking at getting the tyres rebalanced on my other motor and was made aware that the rubber is getting too old !! (just over 6 years)Doing some research it seems that it wasn't just a ploy to sell me new tyres but that most car manufactures now recommend a 6 year max life for the performance and integrity of a tyre. Strange that this comes from the car manufacturers rather than the tyre manufactures. You'd think the tyre manufactures would like the idea the most since they would get to sell a few more tyres. Some of the first Minis must be pushing 6 years old by now. Anyone on original rubber? and if so are there any signs of the rubber getting harder / lossing its elesticity ( e.g. cracks in the sidewalls)? useful link for anyone interested: Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible Page 1 of 2 Mini: Drive and feel alive.
