Offline | I have a new set of 205/60R15 Michelin Alpins from a Nissan Altima and I want to put them on my MCS this winter. I am just wondering if they will fit on the MCS without hitting the fenders? Can anyone who knows for sure please confirm? I posted this previously but didnt' get a definitive answer as to whether they would fit or not. Thanks, Jakearama. ![]() '05 All Black MCS Convertible |

| MINI2 Regular | Tyre size Hi Jakerama, measure the height of your mini wheel with the tyres your mini came with and then the height of the wheels and tyres you intend putting on,if they are the same or within about 10mm,then they will be ok.I run 225/45/17 tyres on my mini and they fit fine with no scrubbing and they don't stick out from the wheel arches. |

Offline | They should fit, I use 205/50-15 on stock MINI wheels for autocross, so the 205/60 size would not appear to be a problem. I don't know, but I doubt if snow chains would have clearance on that size. |

| MINI2 Master | Snow chains will only clear 175mm wide tires, which is why they have both 175/65R15 and 175/60R16 snow tires for the MINI. Offline | Re: MINI tires experts please respond The overall diameter of the 205/60R15 is 24.96". This is larger than the recommended 3% increase or decrease from the stock tyre 175/65R15 at 23.96". At 24.96" it is taller than the already tall 195/55R16 tyre, 24.44". With a tyre this tall you will slow the acceleration and lengthen the brakeing distance. You might also decrease the corning ability by raising the C.G. of the vehicle above the stock. Increasing the tyre width to 205mm is not what you would normally do for a winter tyre. You need to find a narrower tyre for the winter. Look for some 175/60R16's. These should keep the ride height, 24.27" dia., close to the stock MCS height and still allow increased winter traction. Smaller contact patch increases the pounds per square inch, thus allowing the tyres to press down thru snow and make contact the road surface. Larger contact patches, 205/60R15, will tend to "float" up on the snow and decrease traction and control. They would also tend to aquaplane/hydroplane more easily when it rains.
