17" x 8" Alloys ET 35?

Looking at fitting some alloys with the above fitment. i will also be fitting KW Varient 1 coilovers... just wondering if there will be any problems due to the wideness of the wheel and the low offset? I really want to keep my handling as good as possible

Thanks

George

My superleggeras are ET36. I took the rear little mud guard flaps off the rear to stop them rubbing. No other problems. I also have 5mm spacers on the front.

Makes the car wider than standard, which should make it handle better.

Yeah but yoyr wheels are 7" bhozar on a 215 40 tyre. Hes talking about a lower offset, wider wheel, even wider tyre and being around 300-40mm lowered on those KWs. I think you'll find that those will scrub like a beast both front and rear.

You would possibly just get away with the same offset and 30mm lower if they were 7" with a 215 tyre. But 8" with at least a 225/40 or more tyre is almost defo gonna cause issues I think.

I personally would go no further than ET35 on a 17x7 wheel ... and a 215/40 tyre for some road noise suppression and comfort. 30-35mm drop max! You might get away with it but I think its defo gonna be on the limit.

Best person to sk may be the guy who did the Fast Car cover MINI recently. I think his name is massy and his company is plush-automotive. He had 18" x 8" wheels.

I think George would have a problem with 8" wide and ET35, seeing as mine were so close on the rears with Eibach springs.

205 or 215 on 8" will mean kurbings galore mate. I was running 205s on 7.5 Dare wheels and the damgae the sustained on the edges just from crap on the roads and ruts/potholes was obscene!

If you want them to look fat then the offset is what will do that. Going to 8" will mean some serious thought on tyre size/stretching to allow them to clear I would think (and this is what lead to them being damaged like my dares were when runnig stretched tyres). But that said you won't know till you try.

Personally if you want fat I'd do 17"x7" in a low offset and a fat tyre. Eg 35 with a 215 or 225

With 5mm spacers on the front they have a bit of tyre sticking out from the arches when viewed top down.

I'll see if I can fish some info out of Fast Car about the 18"x8" wide wheels when I get home. they were deep dish, custom made and £1k each.

Ok mate, not sounding good then I can only get these wheels in 17x8, to get 7" wide you have to go 16" diameter

if your set on these rims, lots of people will tell you that a 16" will give a better ride/performance anyway,

Actually best person to ask is Scooby or monkey nuts as he was called, think he will tell you its not a practical idea what so ever, he had KW springs an Keskin 17 x 8 wheels an they scrubbed pretty much all the time

It was keskins I was after. They look fantastic, mesh spokes with a dish on them. Would have made my car look semi-euro but ah well!

Going to be ordering some 17x7"s now, just go for conventinal size.
